Turkey’s FM Holds Talks with Azerbaijan, Qatar on Regional Issues

(MENAFN) Hakan Fidan held discussions Friday with his counterparts from Qatar and Azerbaijan to review regional developments.

Turkish diplomatic sources reported that Fidan conducted separate phone calls with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Jeyhun Bayramov. During the conversations, both ministers expressed solidarity and support in response to missiles fired toward Türkiye.

Earlier Friday, Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry confirmed that a ballistic missile launched from Iran into Turkish airspace was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense assets stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean. This marked the third such incident since the joint US-Israel strikes on Iran that began on Feb. 28, which reportedly killed approximately 1,300 people, including the country’s then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military forces, resulting in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
