Provided by AGPAccording to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation has involved more than 15,000 personnel across the military, including soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen, over the past six weeks. The campaign, which began on April 13, targets commercial shipping entering and exiting Iranian ports, including those along the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. Authorities said the enforcement applies to vessels of all nationalities operating in or near Iranian coastal waters.
US officials noted that more than 200 aircraft and naval assets are supporting the operation, including major carrier strike groups, amphibious units, and multiple guided-missile destroyers.
Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, said the operation has been highly effective.
"Our service members are doing extraordinary work," said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. "They have been highly effective by executing the mission with precision and professionalism, allowing zero trade into and out of Iranian ports, which has squeezed Iran economically."
