US, Iran Close to Reach Agreement to End War
(MENAFN) The United States and Iran are reportedly close to reaching an agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, according to multiple US media reports on Saturday.
Sources cited by broadcaster said the remaining disagreements in the draft deal are largely related to wording, while noting that US President Donald Trump has not made a final decision on whether to approve the agreement.
Separately, newspaper reported that Washington and Tehran could announce the completion of a draft peace framework by Sunday, though officials have not confirmed a final outcome.
Earlier in the day, Trump told a media outlet that both sides were “getting a lot closer” to an understanding, signaling cautious optimism about the direction of the talks.
The negotiations are reportedly being conducted through intermediaries based in Islamabad, focusing on issues including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear program, and sanctions relief.
A news agency also reported that Trump held a call with Middle Eastern leaders on Saturday regarding Iran, with a diplomat describing the conversation as positive and suggesting that regional actors are supportive of progress in the negotiations.
